This black and white photograph shows a scene on the deck of a whaling factory ship. A whale has been killed and is being flensed, which means the blubber is being stripped off. The dead whale is in the centre right on the photograph, with two men standing in front. Other men are also busy on the deck, which is littered with pieces of equipment. On the right is the superstructure of the vessel.
