Photograph made of paper

This black and white photograph was probably taken from the bridge of a whale catcher, one of the small but powerful vessels that actually hunted the whales in Antarctic waters. The photograph shows the harpooner firing the haropoon gun and the moment of impact, when the harpoon actually struck the whale. Because of the force of the strike, the whale is obscured by water-spray, but the method of firing and the range at which the harpoon was fired is clear.
