This photograph shows the Dundee whaler 'Active' amidst pack ice. She is carrying most of her sails, including her jibs, spanker and topsails, and there are three whaleboats visible on her port side, with a fourth aft on her starboard quarter. There is also a man on watch in the crow's nest, and oth men visible on deck.
