This sepia photograph shows Mr and Mrs White and their family. Mrs Margaret White is standing on the left of the photograph, holding the hand of her small daughter. Wearing a long dress with a vertical stripe, her hair is pulled back and has a centre parting. Mr Nicholas White with his right leg braced to balance their baby, which he is holding with both hands. He has a fine beard, suiting his position as steward and harpooner on the whaling ship 'Balaena.'
