This lantern slide was taken from the deck of the Dundee whaling ship 'Eclipse.' In the right foreground are the davits of a whaleboat, with the yard-arm of one of the masts above. In the right centre of the picture is a three masted vessel, barque rigged and with her sails furled. This vessel is in a floe of ice.
