This sepia print shows 'Polynia' moored at the edge of the ice. The photograph has been taken from the deck of another whaling ship, presumably 'Erik' . 'Polynia' is seen from her port bow, with all her sails furled and mooring lines attaching her to the ice. There is a low ridge behind her, streaked with snow.
