Black and white photograph showing shore station produce being ferried across to a whaling ship. The photograph was taken from the deck of the ship and shows a makeshift raft approaching over a calm sea. The raft has been constructed by laying planks or beams across the hulls of two open boats. It is being propelled by two men using long oars or sculls. A third man is visible standing forward. The vessel is laden with barrels and kegs.
