S.S. 'Active' moored to ice off Spitsbergen, 1894
Lantern slide made of glass

Museum number 1972-351-21

This lantern slide shows the Dundee whaling ship S.S. 'Active' moored to ice. The ship has all her sails furled and there are five whaleboats hanging from davits along her side. Her crow's nest is plain at the top of her mainmast. The ice is quite high near her stern.
