This photograph shows the Dundee whaling ship 'Eclipse' at anchor at Godhaven, Disco Island. Godhaven was a common spot for the Scottish whaling ships to rest before sailing to the whaling grounds on the west side of Melville Bay. In this photograph 'Eclipse' has all her sails furled, but is wearing a flag at her mizzen. Her crow's nest is visible at her mainmast and there are two whaleboats in the water at her side.
