Kufi Cap
Donated by Mr R. Hamid
Museum number 1989-266
According to the 2001 census, just under 2% of Dundee's population is Muslim which is relatively high compared with the rest of Scotland.
The purpose of Muslim men wearing the Kufi is to act as a sign of humility before Allah. It is considered 'Mustahab' (desirable or praiseworthy) to cover one's head during prayer.
