Two Framed Clydesdale Bank £10 notes, Mary Slessor

Clydesdale Bank Ten Pound Notes, 1997
Donated by Clydesdale Bank, 1997
Museum number 1997-23
Missionary Mary Slessor was the first Scottish woman to appear on a Scottish banknote. These notes bear the dates of her birth and death in the serial numbers. Scenes, taken from the Mary Slessor memorial window, on the museum's ground floor, illustrate her journey from the jute mills of Dundee to her work in Calabar.
