This photograph shows a scene from Dundee harbour. In the foreground is the stern of a steam powered side wheeler, while across on the other side of the dock are two larger vessels. On the left is a light coloured sailing vessel, which made have a barquentine rig, and on the right is a dark hulled vessel with a slender funnel. The dark hulled vessel is probably a whaling ship.
