Terrains Vagues is a French term for areas of waste land. As a child the artist spent time exploring this land, which she believed to be "populated by mythical creatures, mysteries and magic".

Dunkley's photographic work explores matter, reflects the external world and attempts to release an inner view of it. The images from this series are constructed with a selection of fragile natural elements and discarded man-made objects which reflect the atmosphere of our times.
