Walrus on the deck of a whaler

This photograph was taken on the deck of a Dundee whaling ship. It shows the lack of space on the dek, with all the equipment necessary to hunt whales in the high northern latitudes. This photograph also shows a walrus on deck. Dundee whaling ships also hunted for seals, Arctic foxes, polar bears, narwhal and walrus, so having exotic animals on board was not unusual.
