Aase Goldsmith is self taught, i.e. she has had no formal training in art or photography. She learned the techniques of photography from leading professional members of camera clubs in Australia and Scotland.

She explains, "My photographs represent an instant instinctive response to my natural surroundings. Any clue to their purpose or meaning is possibly best sought in Mythology and Folklore of my Nordic ancestors.
