Whaling medal, 1788
Medal made of bronze

Museum number 1968-49

This medal shows a whaling scene with a three masted sailing ship and a harpooner about to strike a whale. It is inscribed 'Success to the Hunter' around the outside. On the reverse the medal is inscribed "Capt. Walter Carr arrived in Yarmouth, Aug. 5th 1788 with 6 fish."
