Whaling seamen collecting fresh water

This lantern slide shows a party of whaling seamen disembarking from a rowing boat. There are three men on the snowy shore and one still in the boat. There are a number of canisters on the ground and many more in the boat. This party is collecting fresh water for the ship. Behind the boat there is a landscape of rounded hills, patched with snow.
