This lantern slide shows part of the Dundee whaling fleet leaving Dundee docks, possibly in 1906. Central to the picture is a barque sailing from the dock. She is under steam power with all her sails furled but wearing the Kinnes house flag of a star from her mainmast. There is a large crowd gathered to see her go. There are three other whaling ships visible in the Firth of Tay, with the vessel on the extreme left leaving a trail of smoke behind her.
