Whaling ship in pack ice
Lantern slide made of glass with metal frame

Donated by Mr Robert Ferguson in 1975
Museum number 1975-2-4-2

This lantern slide shows a whaling ship in pack ice. The vessel has a chain descending from her bowsprit so may well be anchored or at least moored to the ice. Her sails are furled and there is a group of men near the bows, with whaleboats suspended on davits beside her rail.
